¡á Plans to supply terminals to VoIP, wireless Internet telephony and WiFi

August 8, 2007 (Seoul) = VoIP market gains public attention as the Internet telephone number transfer service will go in full service from next March in accordance with the government¡¯s policy.

With the recent expansion of the Internet telephony market, VoIP terminal manufacturers are busy preparing for the benchmarking test of backbone service providers. C&S, the only Korean company which stably provides VoIP chipsets and solutions, waits for the last benchmarking tests of major customers which are the main players in the VoIP terminal market. The company aims to increase the sales from IP telephony five times in the second half over the first half.

T has been preparing for the benchmarking tests of VoIP for Samsung Networks. This week, the tests will be completed. The company expects to supply in full swing from the latter half. In addition, the company is known to push ahead with another businesses with backbone service providers such as SK Networks and Korea Cable Telecom (KCT). J will complete the benchmarking test (BMT) for Hanaro Telecom and is in discussion with KCT and Onse Telecom over the product supply. D is spurring itself to prepare for the BMT for Hanaro Telecom from August.

As part of IP telephony business, C&S is carrying out IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystems)-based terminal sophistication business with Korea Telecom (KT) backed by its experience on the provision of terminal platform for KT All-up Prime. KT is fully devoted to IMS-based BcN business to integrate wireless and telephone 3 Generation networks. C&S says it provides core solutions for the services that support the wireless 3G networks pursued by the satellite broadcasting service providers and mobile communication service providers and the video telephony service of satellite service subscribers.

C&S CEO Seo Seung Mo said, ¡°IT Telephony business will gain popularity from the third quarter as our chip and solution will be supplied to various terminals that enable Internet communication. This policy on Internet telephone number transfer will work to expand the market.¡± He said, ¡°C&S is the only company that can provide the full line-up including VoIP chipset, mobile digital telephony processor, Internet video telephony chip and convergence chip for broadcasting and communication. So we will make a great contribution to the expansion of VoIP market.¡±

On the other hand, the Internet telephony service providers fully prepare themselves to make inroads into the household telephone market estimated at 7 trillion won, which will set off in November. LG Dacom expects to take 2 million households by next year. KCT established by CA TV operators, aims at 70,000 subscribers this year and 700,000 subscribers next year.
