NEPTUNE¡¯s Advantages
NEPTUNE is the multiprocessor that supports the next-generation image codec standards called MPEG-4 part10 AVC or H.264. In particular, this chip supports the H.264 baseline level1.3 for video. As for audio, it is designed to enable programming in accordance with applications. Therefore, it is designed to apply both Korea terrestrial DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) and satellite DMB. This chip enables various audio decoding like AAC+/AAC/MP3/BSAC according to programs. The H.264 performance has been maximized with hardware implementation. In particular, it is embedded with ARM CPU to enable various S/W processing. It is also embedded with various peripherals to facilitate system integration. The H.264 standard video processing is capable of decoding 30 frames per second for CIF-class images, required by DMB specifications. It is designed to run as a whole in a low frequency of 20MHz by using the hardware-designed IDCT, VLD, Prediction and de-blocking filter. In addition, this chip includes the image filtering, OSD (On Screen Display), image format conversion, and image size conversion, necessary for various multimedia screen display. Therefore, it enables its own post processing without additional functions. ARM CPU used as a main processor can be used effectively for OS porting and loading various API & application programs.
